Job Title: Building Materials Specialist Shift/Hours: Full Time Flexible

Pay Range: Starting base rate of $44,000 annually plus excellent commission opportunity
JOB SUMMARY:
Use your extensive knowledge of the building industry to help ensure quality builds by providing guidance on the best products. Build a network of contractors and homeowners that trust you and your team to provide exceptional customer service and guidance that will positively impact homes throughout the entire upstate area.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Develops sales contacts with contractors, businesses and homeowners and promotes company products, value, quality and services.
· Sells to, makes recommendations on and takes building materials orders from contractors, commercial accounts and homeowners.
· Provides computer and manually generated quotes on requested building materials, custom built items, structures, and garage packages; quotes may be developed from plans and specifications provided by customer or developed internally; follows up on all quotes provided.
· Develops and services new customer accounts.
· Provides advice and guidance on alternate materials, techniques, designs, and cost effective approaches.
· Meets with contractors, commercial accounts, and homeowners at job sites when required, and in making sales development and servicing calls.
· Resolves customer complaints, helps expedite customer credit account and financing requests, and completes special projects.
· Meets with outside product sales representatives, and keeps abreast of new construction materials, trends, and techniques; makes recommendations on new products, pricing and sales/marketing approaches.
· Represents and promotes Company and products at trade shows, product seminars, home shows and Builder organizations and associations.
· Provides input used in setting sales budget goals and prepares sales and activity reports, and maintains files and records.
· Develops and maintains contractor partnering accounts.
· Assists Retail Store Sales personnel as may be required.
· Promotes good housekeeping, and safe work practices and ensures any potential work area safety hazards are eliminated.
· Be familiar with the Safety and Health Accident Prevention Program, and abide by all safety and health rules, work practices, and regulations.
· Actively participates in and supports employee participation in the Safety and Health Accident Prevention Program.
· Performs other duties as may be required.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
Highschool graduate, or equivalent; 5 years building materials sales, construction or equivalent experience. Must be detail oriented self starter, have good math, computer, planning, organizational, verbal, and written communications skills. Must demonstrate good judgment, decision making, and customer relations skills, and be able to deal tactfully with people.
RESPONSIBILITY:
Responsible for meeting and exceeding sales goals, following up on quotes and developing and servicing accounts. Quotes provided, pricing, and work quality, along with customer relations, have a direct effect on sales, profit and customer satisfaction potential. Resolves customer complaints and recommends sales, pricing and marketing approaches. Works under general supervision and direction.
PHYSICAL:
Must be able to safely lift up to 100 lbs and able to access all areas of customer job sites. May assist customers in loading purchased materials. Sets up, takes down and transports building materials displays, and sample items.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
Typical office/store conditions. May be exposed to inclement weather conditions at customer job sites, when making sales calls and in Company yard and Warehouse areas.
